Our Team

Zahn qualified as an Optometrist at the Behavioral School of Optometry, Rand Afrikaans University in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1990. She has practiced as an optometrist in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and New Zealand. She started her career in Australia in Albury, NSW.

Zahn and her family moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2009, when she took over ownership of Optikus Optometrists and has settled into the community offering a wide range of experience and knowledge.

Zahn’s training in behavioral optometry has molded her passion for her patient’s visual and ocular health needs. She has a holistic approach to vision care and is a strong believer in staying on top of the latest information and technology. She finds the multi-faceted industry of optometry exhilarating and as an owner-optometrist has the opportunity to be involved in all of them. There is no time to be bored in optometry!

Her favorite cup of tea is a Spiced Chai.

Her favorite pastimes are baking, cooking, and gardening – especially her orchids and veggies.

Her favorite meal is either ‘pap & wors’ or a Nando’s take away when she is too tired to prepare a meal.

Her wish is for cheaper optometric equipment and a speedy release of the next season of ‘The Witcher’.

André is the Dispensing and Maintenance backbone of Optikus Optometrists. His training and multiple talents from his farming days in Zimbabwe make him crucial in the Workshop, Maintenance, and IT areas. He is well known for his skills and dedication in the out-of-the-box visual needs department. Many an impossible scenario has been ingeniously resolved. As well as the multiple watch batteries replaced, umbrellas fixed, and home deliveries made for patients.

On the rare occasion when he is not busy with glasses, fixing things, or computers, you will find him daydreaming of the creations he is spawning in the shed.

His favorite cup of tea is a strong cuppa Lipton.

His favorite pastime is being in his shed.

His favorite meal is making bacon and eggs on a Sunday morning.

His wish is for Zahn’s Harley to turn into a dirt bike

Miranda joined the team in November 2019. She has a history in law but is smitten with the brand new field.

She believes that every person is valuable and unique and she tries her hardest to serve people with that in mind.   Miranda is a crazy plant lady and believes they breathe life into our world. Along with her sunny disposition, she possesses sass and all things pink and sparkly!

Her favorite cup of tea is Mixed Berries.

Her favorite pastime is spending time with her daughter.

Her favorite meal is a good lasagne.

Her wish is for the world to turn pink and to be the Manager one day.

Kathryn has been working in the optometry industry for the last 9 years. She began her career as an optical assistant before qualifying as a therapeutically endorsed optometrist and completing her Master of Optometry with distinction at QUT in 2017. The Zebra consultation chairs convinced her that her new career should start at Optikus Optometrists. Kathryn loves the diversity optometry provides mixing fashion, health, science, and technology across all ages. She is genuinely interested in getting to know you and finding the best visual solution for your lifestyle.

Her favorite cup of tea is Ginger and Lemon.

Her favorite pastime is singing, especially during your consultation.

Her favorite meal is not dairy.

Her wish is for patterned pants and big homemade earrings to be standard staff uniforms.
